Big Data and Predictive Analytics

Used to be called statistics in my day.
In ancient times when dinosaurs roamed the earth, analytics was all about predicting the future. Today, it’s all about the now (“Trending”).
This requires different tools. No longer use of regression, ANOVA, seasonality etc.
Now it’s all about correlation of current events.
If person A bought this, then recommend what Persons B and C also bought.
Categorize and classify into “flocks” that manifest similar if not identical behavior.
Better? Well, different.
